The Soup Dragons – Love Is Love/No Music On A Dead Planet

The Soup Dragons have returned with two new tracks! The band, who are best known for their indie/dance crossover hit I’m Free, also appeared on the C86 tape as well as delivery a range of fuzzy indiepop singles for The Subway Organisation and the Raw TV Products label.

The two songs feature on a double a-sided release. Love Is Love is fuelled by Motown and the 1960s girl group sound. It also features some of that aforementioned fuzz! It’s a perfect feel good pop song for the last days of summer.

The flip side, No Music On A Dead Planet, features the B52’s Fred Schneider has been recorded for Music Declares Emergency. No Music On A Dead Planet is their slogan, and it’s a cause worth knowing about.

Music Declares Emergency is a group of artists, music industry professionals and organisations that stand together to declare a climate and ecological emergency and call for an immediate governmental response to protect all life on Earth. We believe in the power of music to promote the cultural change needed to create a better future.

The song is, despite the seriousness of the message, is a fun track. No surprise, given Schneider’s involvement, that it has more than a hint of the B-52’s rock ‘n’ roll and a pop trash culture feel about it.

Love Is Love/No Music On A Dead Planet is out now in vinyl formats via Last Night From Glasgow. It’s available digitally via the band’s Bandcamp page.

Visit the Music Declares Shop as well. There are some great t-shirts including limited edition peter Saville ones (Factory Records) as well as Soup Dragons tees which tie in to this release.
