Swedish outfit Spunsugar have announced that their second album A Hole Forever will be released on 17 November 2023 via Adrian Recordings. The band’s new single It Never Gave Me Anything is lifted from said album. Whereas June’s previous single Skin Unwell saw some diversity in their sound It Never Gave Me Anything goes back to basics being a swirling and noisy shoegaze track drawing inspiration from the late 1980s, early 1990s.
The band write that the song “describes a relationship between a person and an unwanted side of themselves. This side is so unlike how they want to be that they treat them as a separate entity, maybe even a person. It has always been there, ruining moments, talking to them and making sure that they never forget that it is present.”
The single is an edited version of the one that appears on the album. The album version appears on the “flip side” and the single can be purchased from here.
