Mica Flakes – See You Someday

I first heard the Japanese outfit Mica Flakes on last year’s Under Flower Festival compilation, which was released via Testcard Records.

Titled Always Feel the track was catchy indie pop which impressed with the harmonious melodies and girl/vocals blending in influences ranging from the 1960s to the 1990s. Investigating more, I discovered it’s a new track from a band that released two albums back in the early 2000s on Under Flower Records. The band also featured Ferri-Chrome’s Manabu Kurogome, who was previously in the likes of Shortcut Miffy!

Roll on to today, and Testcard Records will soon be hosting a second Under Flower Festival early next month. As part of this there will be a limited edition Mica Flakes 7″ single featuring Always Feel and the track See You Someday which was originally found on 2002’s See You… album.  It’s a track that takes its cues from 1960s sunshine pop, with a hefty dose of Teenage Fanclub stirred in.

The single is out on September 02 2023 and can be pre-ordered in from the label.
