The new EP Hey, Listen To Me from the Daegu based Drinking Boys and Girls Choir is a collaborative affair with three female artists from their city (Kim Seoul, Minjung Kim and Mi-so). Additionally, their label write that “Jang Young-eun, guitarist and vocalist of the band igloo, participated in the musical arrangement with an attempt to make something different to previously released music by Drinking Boys and Girls Choir”.
The result is three very distinctive tracks. There is the sound of decaying post-rock on Not Red whilst City mixes pop alongside emo and skate punk. Listen To Me with its fuzzy bursts of noise pop and riot grrrl, stands out being both catchy and addictive whilst relaying strong varying messages.
