Hot Coppers is the solo project of Gareth Parton who is a music producer and who has produced bands such as Breeders, The Go! Team, Foals, The Beta Band and many more. The double-sided Molecule/Soft World is his second single after 2021’s Sunflower Seeds.
Molecule is a vibrant track which heads for the dance floor with a hybrid of indiepop, 1960s pop and dare I say it, a bit of northern soul too. You might as well have a dance as the protagonist wonders what they and that person that should have been, could have been! The flip side Soft World is a gentler affair with words gloomily presenting an inauspicious relationship.
An album follows in May, but for now pick up this excellent single in vinyl and digital formats via Lost and Lonesome.
