Is it really two years since we last heard from Saint Petersburg based Blankenberge? Thankfully they are back with a bang with their new single No Sense that takes the basic shoegaze template adding all sorts of wonderful noises including fuzzy drone and synths whilst the voice of Yana Guselnikova gives the song an epic feel.
It’s backed with a remix of an Alex Kelman remix of Look Around which originally appeared on 2019’s More album. Beats collide with ethereal vocals resulting in a haunting and atmospheric feel not too far removed from what fellow Russians PinkShinyUltrablast used to do. The scratchy guitar noise towards the end is particularly nice! Splendid.
