A Five Card Trick

Hot on the heels on another Bandcamp Friday (you know it’s a successful day when your bank thinks you are being defrauded thanks to all the purchases you are making) here is a roundup of some new and upcoming releases.

Shiny Times will be releasing a new EP via the Greek label Melotron Recordings next month. Titled Let’s Get Shiny!, a twee-pop title if there ever was one, it will feature six new tracks from Kim Hart Weldin. Only one is available for streaming at the mo’ and the DIY programmed beats of Scroll Away The Night is a good indicator that it will be a fine EP. You can pre-order Let’s Get Shiny! from the label and it will be available in CD and digital formats.

The new single from Whimiscal new single is a cover of the Motorhome track Sweet Valentine originally released in 1995. It not only features contributions from Motorhome’s Josiah Mazzaschi but the band’s Kristen Thiele also supplied original artwork from the 1990s. Krissy Vanderwoude voice is as glorious as ever.

Mexican indiepop act En Mi Mente have a mini-album out. Titled A Punto de Vivir (About To Live) consists of seven new songs with the catchy Pluma en el Aire and moody Sertralina standing out thus far. An excellent example of DIY/Bedroom Pop.

Michigan’s Tambourina feature members of Glowfriends, Overly Polite Tornadoes and Vida Eterna. Their debut released is an album called Tambourine Dream (very clever) and there are currently two tracks available for streaming. Both are hazy and laid back dreampop songs with joint vocals. It’s pleasing stuff and it will be interesting to see (hear) how these tracks fit in when the full album is released. Tambourine Dream will be released later this month and is currently available to pre-order in vinyl, CD and digital formats from the band.

The new single from San Francisco’s Moon Museum is heavy, pschydelic tinged, shoegaze of the highest order. It still manages to sound dreamy with it and the voice of Olivia Barchard floats over the intense guitars and percussion. Dreamgaze? They are not kidding. It’s available from here.
