The Sunday Session

Glaswen – Definition

Russian band Glaswen recently announced on Facebook they were back from the dead and they have Definition, their first track for almost seven years, to prove it. I guess we can be thankful to lock-down for this noisy shoegaze track which makes that long period of absence almost a blur!

Star-Crossed Lovers – Star-Crossed Lovers

Star-Crossed Lovers have formed out of the remnants of Dream Suicide. This self titled EP is their debut and features five shoegaze that range from the ethereal, dreamy (Our Saints, Hidden Self) to the nosier, reverb laden (Memories Within Wounds) and the melodic & hazy (Razorblades, Enemy of the Heart). A solid start and I must check out the previous band too.

bdrmm – A Reason To Celebrate

A Reason To Celebrate is taken from the forthcoming album Bedroom which is due for release on Sonic Cathedral in July. It’s a blistering track that alternates between alt-rock, shoegaze and has a bit of a Brit-pop swagger about it’s person too.

Various Artists – BPDMONTHLYMIXTAPE #02: My Red Dream is Everything

As the title suggests this is the second volume in a monthly series from Indionesian label Yellowroom Recs. This month is dedicated to May which the label states is the month of workers worldwide and I am not disagreeing. It’s a mix of different styles with something for everybody showing the strength of the Indonesian Music scene. My personal faves are Astrolab with Crystal Clear and Tamankota who contribute Takkan Hilang. Great artwork too.

Secret Shame – Dissolve

I can hear so many influences on this track ranging from New Order to Makthaverskan that my head is in a spin. It’s a great track fusing indie and alternative pop with some dark, Gothic overtures. I reckon this would go down a storm on the dance floors at indie clubs or whilst lock down continues in any room in your house or flat!

Dissolve will be backed by Pure and is due for release in vinyl and digital formats on June 5th 2020 and you can pre-order it from here.
