There seems to be a strong DIY post-punk scene in Germany and I have previously covered acts from Berlin (here and here although I am no expert!). Now my ears have been turned towards the east of that country courtesy of Leipzig’s Heavy Petting and their debut release Anfahr’n Am Berg.

There are five tracks contained within. All have that jagged, serrated guitar sound that I have noticed has become more prevalent these days. Shouty female vocals, clever use of synths and influences ranging from industrial to snippets of ACR inspired funk are utilised to great effect throughout. Tanke and Plenum are my pick of the bunch. The former is Neue Welle and electronic punk inspired like whilst the latter is very Slits like. Intriguing stuff!
