Wittering from an old indie kid whether it's c86, indiepop, jangle pop, post-punk, coldwave, shoegaze or dreampop!

Stoop Kid – Nothing At All

At the time of their last release, that being the excellent Uhm Yeah Sure EP, Stoop Kid was the project of one Jens Reubens. On this brand new EP it still is but now Reubens has formed a full band that will start to play gigs later this year. Anyway update over let’s return to the EP.

The EP opens with the catchy Thought This Was The Uniform which gives way to the initially slower Done Deal. After opening with some chiming guitars with vocals to match the song picks up speed with jangling guitars kicking in for a minute or so before the chiming effects take it to the finishing line. The EP ends with two slow songs with the mournful In Utter Neglect taking the listener to the EP’s conclusion.

It’s another solid bedroom pop EP from Belgium although I wonder if the full band will make an appearance the next time around. Nothing At All is available on cassette from Gazer Tapes or digitally from the band.
