Moscow based Mashmellow have, after teasing us with two excellent singles, released their debut EP titled Someday Club. The EP consists of five tracks including those aforementioned singles which I have previously reviewed here and here. The band err on the poppier side of alt-rock/indie and after being spoilt by Share It and Heaven Is You I have to admit that on the first few listens the title track and Voices have washed over me without making a dent. Mashmellow are based in Moscow. After meeting the band members Masha Shurygina and Egor Berdnikov, who both shared love of early 90s dream-pop, decided to create music, forming the band. Share It is their debut single and it opens like a latter day New Order with synths and rolling bass lines before becoming a fully fledged alternative / indie rock track. The voice of Masha Shurygina dominates and she, unlike a few of her fellow Russian vocalists I have been listening to these past couple of weeks, sings in English which I guess would widen their appeal.
