Tyrannosaurus Dead / Joanna Gruesome Split 7″

Tyrannosaurus Dead and Joanna Gruesome release a split 7″ single on Oddbox Records later this month. The former provide a brand new track in the shape of Post Holiday Dead Song whilst the latter provide Anti Parent Cowboy Killers which is taken from last years excellent Weird Sister album. Both tracks are fuzzy and noisy indiepop of the highest order. Pre-order it from here. Continue reading Tyrannosaurus Dead / Joanna Gruesome Split 7″

Clearing The Decks

I have bookmarked a lot of music to mention but time prevents me from writing about them all individually so this post is a round up of them all serving as my must buy list too! Note: if you want to listen to a companion playlist to this post head over here. The Hundredth Anniversary released their Wreckers EP back in March. Not sure why I didn’t mention it then as it’s great. Another great release on Oddbox Records. Amida – Boring Birth

Amida have been plugging away for a few years now with their excellent singles and live shows. They have finally released their debut album and despite the fact it contains 13 tracks it’s all over just over the half hour mark. Now that’s my type of album. Excellent jangling and melodic indiepop invoking everyone from The Chills to the Wedding Present. It’s out now on Jigsaw Records or buy digitally from the band. Univers – L’Estat Natural

Univers hail from Barcelona and on their debut album L’Estat Natural they initially suggest to me that they are a Catalan version of a Sea Monsters era Wedding Present. However subsequent listens suggest they are poppier than that with more than a state side slant. The sulky vocals, crashing guitars and the pulsating drive in each song more than make up for the fact that, unless you speak Catalan, you have no idea what they are singing about. Music is a univers (al) language indeed. Excellent stuff. Buy on vinyl from the label or digitally from the band. Facebook Continue reading Univers – L’Estat Natural
