I must admit Franny & Zooey didn’t grab me on their Bananafish EP but this is more like it. Bottled Up And Ready To Go is your ready made indiepop soundtrack for the summer and is packed full of short, sweet and catchy pop songs none more so than I Love You. You must be one miserable sod if you don’t at least crack half a smile whilst listening to this. Amida – Boring Birth

Amida have been plugging away for a few years now with their excellent singles and live shows. They have finally released their debut album and despite the fact it contains 13 tracks it’s all over just over the half hour mark. Now that’s my type of album. Univers – L’Estat Natural

Univers hail from Barcelona and on their debut album L’Estat Natural they initially suggest to me that they are a Catalan version of a Sea Monsters era Wedding Present. However subsequent listens suggest they are poppier than that with more than a state side slant. The sulky vocals, crashing guitars and the pulsating drive in each song more than make up for the fact that, unless you speak Catalan, you have no idea what they are singing about. The Popguns – Lovejunky

Not only have the Popguns joined the ever increasing list of 1980’s indiepop bands to reform these past couple of years they have also gone one better by reusing the title of their third album as the lead track on their first EP since 1996’s Harley Davidson single.
