One of the highlights of the recent Beko Summer Compilation was Those Days by Worries. I was impressed enough by their homage (well his seeing as it’s 22 year old Alex) to all things indiepop (think Sarah, Labrador etc) that I also sought out other recordings. Flowers – Young

Young is taken from Flowers forthcoming debut album Do What You Want To, It’s What You Should Do which is due out in early September on Fortuna Pop (UK/EU) and Kanine Records (US). Tyrannosaurus Dead / Joanna Gruesome Split 7″

Tyrannosaurus Dead and Joanna Gruesome release a split 7″ single on Oddbox Records later this month. The former provide a brand new track in the shape of Post Holiday Dead Song whilst the latter provide Anti Parent Cowboy Killers which is taken from last years excellent Weird Sister album. Peru – Sent To Saltcoats / Time On The Clock

The opening fifteen seconds of Sent To Saltcoats suggest we could have a Northern Soul floor stomper on our hands before it merges with a jangling indiepop sound. Flip side Time On The Clock is full of rhyming guitars that bounce along in conjunction with frontman Brian’s strong and distinctive vocals. An excellent single all round. Various – Indietracks Compilation 2014

The annual indietracks compilation is out. It features a track from each of the 55 artists playing this years festival including the likes of The Hobbes Fanclub, Joanna Grusome, Dean Wareham, The Popguns, Nightflowers and many more. Dizzy is the second single from bentcousin who comprise of twins Amelia and Pat. It sounds like a cross between Colour Me Wednesday and Curve’s Ten Little Girls thanks to the rap in the middle. Don’t let that three letter word put you off as this is a great summer pop tune. Gingerlys – Jumprope EP

Any record featuring female vocals and fuzzy guitars is going to be a winner in my book and the debut EP from Gingerlys is no exception especially on Summer Cramps which could develop into a terrace chant.
