The opening fifteen seconds of Sent To Saltcoats suggest we could have a Northern Soul floor stomper on our hands before it merges with a jangling indiepop sound. Flip side Time On The Clock is full of rhyming guitars that bounce along in conjunction with frontman Brian’s strong and distinctive vocals. An excellent single all round. Various – Indietracks Compilation 2014

The annual indietracks compilation is out. It features a track from each of the 55 artists playing this years festival including the likes of The Hobbes Fanclub, Joanna Grusome, Dean Wareham, The Popguns, Nightflowers and many more. Yours for just two quid. The compilations for the past two years are also available. Dizzy is the second single from bentcousin who comprise of twins Amelia and Pat. It sounds like a cross between Colour Me Wednesday and Curve’s Ten Little Girls thanks to the rap in the middle. Don’t let that three letter word put you off as this is a great summer pop tune. Gingerlys – Jumprope EP

Any record featuring female vocals and fuzzy guitars is going to be a winner in my book and the debut EP from Gingerlys is no exception especially on Summer Cramps which could develop into a terrace chant. I must admit Franny & Zooey didn’t grab me on their Bananafish EP but this is more like it. Bottled Up And Ready To Go is your ready made indiepop soundtrack for the summer and is packed full of short, sweet and catchy pop songs none more so than I Love You. You must be one miserable sod if you don’t at least crack half a smile whilst listening to this.
