Summer Heart – U Got All I’m Looking 4

Fresh from being selected as Band Of The Day in the Guardian David Alexander aka Summer Heart has released his latest single and it is poppier than ever. Despite the horrendous title it manages to maintain originality to distinguish it from the commercial pap that constantly floods our ears these days reminding me of the Balearic/chill out tunes of old. Mind you I actually prefer the flip side Beat Of Your Heart that mixes indiepop and synthpop to great effect. Facebook Continue reading Summer Heart – U Got All I’m Looking 4

Thee AHs – Corey’s Coathangers

Canadian indiepoppers Thee AHs have their third album Corey’s Coathangers last month. Oh back to the album – it’s ace! Corey’s Coathangers is out now on CD (Jigsaw Records) , Cassette (Birdtapes) or digital formats. EDIT: They play London on July 31st. Gold-Bears – For You

Easter has just improved with the news that Gold-Bears are to release their second album Dalliance on June 3rd via Slumberland Records. Their debut album Are You Falling in Love? was a corker and judging by For You they are continuing in the same vein. Frontman Jeremy Underwood’s vocals are still distinctive as ever and they go well with the fast and furious guitars. If This Poison! were American they would have sounded like this…… Pre-Order Dalliance here. Homepage Facebook Continue reading Gold-Bears – For You

The Wendy Darlings – The Insufferable Fatigues of Idleness

I was part of Lostmusic when we released French band The Wendy Darlings début release, the We Come With Friendly Purposes EP back in 2009. Moving forward five years my old Lostmusic cohort Trev is releasing the bands début album The Insufferable Fatigues of Idleness on his Oddbox Records label. I have always felt they are a vastly underated band and if the sparkling indiepop that is Bobby Darin doesn’t at least move you to check the band and/or album out then there is something seriously wrong with you! It’s out on April 14th – pre-order it from the label. … Continue reading The Wendy Darlings – The Insufferable Fatigues of Idleness

Heathers – Fear

Just in time for the weekend comes news of a new single from Heathers who just get better and better. Available a 7″ single from Death Party Records or digitally from bandcamp. I am sure I wrote about Heathers previously but that seems not to be the case. Too much music not enough time eh? Visit bandcamp for their previous releases including the rather excellent first single Teenage Clothes. Facebook Continue reading Heathers – Fear
