Another threesome for your listening Pleasure. Club 8 – Love Dies Love Dies is taken from the bands forthcoming album Pleasure which is out, via Labrador, on November 20th. Given their last albums have covered electronica, dub, bossa nova and trip hop the next one should be interesting based on this track! The Radio Dept. – This Repeated Sodomy Staying on Labrador The Radio Dept. have a new single out. Entitled This Repeated Sodomy it will not be on the band’s forthcoming album. Something For The Weekend

How about some electronica for the weekend? Copy For Collapse – Grey Sunday (Proxy Remix) A very good remix of Grey Sunday by Proxy. Not as accessible as the original (which you can find here) but still impresses with a much harder sound. Facebook New Order – Plastic If Restless and it’s pretty boring remixes got you down and had you thinking it sounded the death knell (again!) for New Order then you may have to have a rethink! Plastic is pretty good and must be the next single surely given it’s remix potential. It sounds like the band has … Continue reading Something For The Weekend

Star Horse – Slower Now (Remixes)

I mentioned Star Horse and their excellent Slower Now single last month. It’s now had the remix treatment courtesy of Thunberg and LTZA. Both mixes concentrate on the vocals which stood out on the original and highlight them to great effect. The former is upbeat, almost dancey in places but it’s the latter remix I prefer which drifts in and out of ambient/film score territory resulting in a dreamy and atmospheric feel.  Neither are better than the original though so give that a listen first. Facebook Continue reading Star Horse – Slower Now (Remixes)

Holiday Tuneage!

It’s going to be a bit silent around here for the next couple of weeks whilst I am away but that doesn’t mean that there will be nothing left to listen too judging by this round up post which features some music I have meaning to mention separately but time etc. First up is The Death of Pop with their new single Bubble Bath that features four excellent indie pop tracks. Not much progression from their previous work but if it ain’t broke………………. The excellent The Choo Choo Trains, who describe themselves as playing “girl-guide Shoegaze”, have a new cassette … Continue reading Holiday Tuneage!

A Copy For Collapse – Grey Sunday

Grey Sunday is the second single taken the second album, Waiting For, by Italian electronic duo A Copy For Collapse. It’s a great track that weaves lush patterns throughout mixing laid back electronica with a dose of dreampop. The album is pretty good too. If shoegazing was a techno sub genre then it may have sounded like Waiting For! Grey Sunday, bundled with remixes, can be purchased digitally from here. Waiting For can be purchased on 12″ vinyl from here. It can also be purchased digitally here. Facebook Soundcloud Continue reading A Copy For Collapse – Grey Sunday

Girl One and The Grease Guns – The Shatterproof Man

Girl One and The Grease Guns have released their seventh and final 7″ single via Squirrel Records (who also are sadly shutting down). The band may well release music in the future but not in 7″ vinyl format. As for this release The Shatterproof Man carries on in the same vein as previous singles being an energetic and elaborate electronic based pop song which deserves to be kept spinning. The flip side A Steel Cat In A Glass Jar is a different kettle of fish entirely being an experimental track sounding like a mix between industrial music and a film … Continue reading Girl One and The Grease Guns – The Shatterproof Man

Sans Néant – Astral / Leaves / Behind

Excellent stuff from Finland. Experimental meets shoegaze, indiepop and noisepop amongst others . There is plenty of stuff on the bandcamp page to download for nowt but this latest release is the best work so far especially on opening track Astrals (Collide) which sounds like a mashup between The Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. Final track Uphill Shadows is also worth a listen venturing into Aphex Twin territory circa the Richard D. James album period. Nice! Continue reading Sans Néant – Astral / Leaves / Behind

The Radio Dept. – Occupied

The Radio Dept. have released their first physical product for five years. Occupied is the first single to be taken from their forthcoming album. The title track is a moody synth pop affair and is backed with It Looked Like Heaven (But Feels Like Hell) and a reworked version of the title track called Down Down Down (Liminals Remix) Occupied is limited to 1000 copies – get it from here.
