The Churchhill Garden – Holding on (Feat. Demi Haynes)

This could well be Swiss outfit The Churchhill Garden’s finest moment to date. Escape to a world where My Bloody Valentine are fronted by Harriet Wheeler and you are halfway there. The song itself is heavenly, atmospheric and beautiful none more so than the voice of Seashine’s Demi Haynes. The soundtrack to my (and your) dreams…. Another bump crop of tunes for you to enjoy. There is a lot of good stuff out there at present so dive in by clicking on the image – you will need to allow pop ups. EDIT. If the tracks skip (Playmoss bug) head to the links below. More playlists can be found here and the Playmoss page is here. PS. Echo Ladies – Overrated (Robin Guthrie Version)

Overrated was one of the many highlights from Echo Ladies recent long player Pink Noise. It now gets a rework by Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins) tht removes the harshness of the original placing a sometimes delicate emphasis on the vocals and turning up the dream pop dial to maximum. Lovely stuff. The sound of Sweden. Via East Stirlingshire. Pre-order from here. And here is the original Facebook Continue reading Echo Ladies – Overrated (Robin Guthrie Version)

Fawns of Love – Someday

Someday is the first single to be lifted from the new Fawns of Love album Permanent that will be released next year on Test Pattern Records. Somewhat remarkably Someday fuses New Order and the Cocteau Twins to great effect and the husband and wife duo of Jenny & Joseph Andreotti create an excellent tune that is ideal for the indie dance floor. I reckon it’s ripe for a remix too and Test Pattern Records have previous form in that department so lets hope something is in the offering! Homepage Continue reading Fawns of Love – Someday

Short Feelings – A Records I Like Playlist (September #2)

I have been struggling to listen to anything this past week or so but still have managed to cobble a second playlist from the month from the snippets I have managed to grab. Lots of stuff here and hopefully I can do them justice with a few words over the next week or two. In the meantime click on the image to start the playlist and , as ever (I hope!), enjoy. More playlists can be found here and the Playmoss page is here. Continue reading Short Feelings – A Records I Like Playlist (September #2)

September Round Up #3

Something Else – Don’t Want It Jangling guitar pop with post-punk overtones with a bit of pub-rock thrown in too. They have since released their debut album entitled An Entire Album About My Ex-Girlfriend which has been on heavy rotation recently. Facebook Theatre Royal – All Fall Forward/Better Say Goodbye Powerful guitar driven pop from Rochester, Kent linking the Medway sound and psychedelic pop of the 1960’s. Facebook The Radio Dept – Going Down Swinging The Radio Dept. continue their record of releasing anti fascist singles before general elections in their home country given the rise of the right wing … Continue reading September Round Up #3

September Round Up #2

Рыцарь Диких Яблок – Дворец Not sure I am trusting google translate here but the band and recording translate as Palace by Knight of Wild Apples. What I do know is that this is a very fine indiepop EP indeed. Forget the fact this Saint Peterburg based band sing in their native Russian (and why not) and let the music and harmonies do the translating for you. Class. Grab it for free/pay what you want from here. Homepage Ping Pong Club – Sklylight Talking about classy indiepop here is another fine effort from Bandung’s Ping Pong Club that just shines … Continue reading September Round Up #2

September Round Up #1

I returned home after a week away to a bursting at the seams bandcamp inbox on top of those songs/band I have yet to write about or give a mention too. Here is the first of a number of posts trying to rectify that! Foundlings – Horizons Another fine slice of 1990’s tinged melodic guitar pop from London’s Foundlings. It’s their finest moment yet! Facebook The Angel Makers – Sam and Sara I mentioned the lead track from this EP back in June and I am glad to hear that this EP carries on in pretty much the same vein. … Continue reading September Round Up #1
