The double sided Mundane is the new single from the Bandung based Lawrence & Kim.

They have dispersed with the fuzziness found on their previous two releases. Given the last was almost three years ago, I suspect there may have been a line-up change. The songs are now driven fine programming and as much as I hate to say it, it’s hard not to draw comparisons with Sarah Records with yet another band from this Indonesian hotbed of indiepop. Even the cover art replicates the Sarah style.

Think Another Sunny Day and The Field Mice and you will hear what I mean on these retro sounding tracks. However, and given that those acts ceased to exist some time ago, this may be a new sound to many. Either way, it’s a flippin’ great sound and that’s all what matters.
