For their first release this year, New Jersey’s Fascinations Grand Chorus have released a single featuring two cover versions. First up is their take on the 1965 single She’s Just My Style by Gary Lewis & The Playboys. It’s a fast paced girl group version which airbrushes the original surf pop sound right out of the picture.
They stay a bit more faithful to I Wanna Love Him So Bad, which was the debut single of The Jellybeans way back in 1964. If the original was given a remix next week, then it may have well sounded like this, given the enhanced instrumentation. Not only is it good to hear their interpretations of these songs, it’s also great to dig deeper into their influences.
