Carnations are another new band from the burgeoning new Sydney “scene”. They have just released their debut EP which is heavily influenced by post-punk and the shambling indiepop bands circa C86. I Die is the EP’s lead track and is full of disordered and entrancing guitar hooks, whilst the duel female vocals give it that authentic retro feel. It’s more of the same throughout the EP with the closing track Garland sounding like it was recorded forty odd years ago. Most good.
Carnations is out now via Urge Records.
