The new single from Tokyo’s Stomp Talk Modstone delivers a mix of shimmering shoegaze and ethereal female vocals. That’s a mix that gladdens my heart and Baby Sky certainly has elements of beauty running through it. The lyrics hint at a vanquished partner and they even place “vapor trail” into the words. I am left wondering if that is a homage to Ride who certainly are, alongside the likes of The Pale Saints and MBV, a huge influence on the band and their music. A fine single and if you are into shoegaze from thirty years or 30 days ago this one should be on your playlist.
