One thing that stands out for me about the Australian shoegazers All Sparks Burn Out is they are not afraid to hand over their tracks for others to interpret. I have never brought the “remixes are made because the the original wasn’t good enough” bollocks to be honest.
Relay Tapes, whose Jade Tyers’ contribute vocals on the original, take last September’s Happy Accidents starting with a laid back ambient vibe before merging into an Aphex Twin style wail of noise (see what I did there?). The band’s own Gaz Stephenson provides the Transmute remix which covers all sort of ground on it’s 9 minute journey which, for the most part, brings back memories of listening to electronic based music for the past forty plus years. The best remix I have heard this year to date.
