A Sampler of Two Halves

The latest sampler features a mix of both post-punk and indie/alternative (this sounds like a 1990s compilation advert) tracks featuring a number of tracks released over this Bandcamp Friday weekend. As ever enjoy.

Track Listing:

The “Indie-ish” Side

Bathe Alone – Waste It

The new single which is about toxic friendships, with the words being in direct contrast with the dreaminess of the music accompanying them.

Hause Plants – Fake Friends

Fake Friends is the lead track from the forthcoming Sleeping With Weird People EP which will be released in June via via Spirit Goth. The sound of dreampop meeting new wave/post-punk.

Dayflower – Popping Candy

Taken from the 2nd Anniversary edition of the Popping Candy EP which features unheard alternate mixes, experimental demos and a rare cover version. Always good to hear this one again. The alternate version on said EP is also worth a listen too. Dreampop with psychedelic tendencies.

Lightning in A Twilight Hour – Leaf Fall Is Over

Taken from the brand new album Overwintering which is out now via Elefant Records. Lightning in A Twilight Hour is Bobby Wratten (Field Mice/Trembling Blue Stars) and ex band mates, friends and long time collaborators.

Loop – Fermion

Taken from the bands new album Sonancy. It’s the first studio album from the band since 1990’s A Gilded Eternity. It’s like the intervening years never happened. Sonancy can be purchased from here.

The “Post-Punk” Side

Claustrophobia – Cut and Run

The new single from the New Order influenced outfit. Sounds a bit like Round & Round with gothic vocals. Definitely one for the post-punk dancefloors.

Troie – Tank

Rennes based Troie update the sound of early Mute Records on their debut self titled EP. Tank is the lead track and rightly so.

Primitive Heart – Underground (Fawns of Love Remix)

Fawns Of Love turn in a stunning remix of the new single from Primitive Heart. They add layers of programmed beats, bass guitar and ethereal vocals and improve it 100%!

Figure Section – Up North

Up North is taken from the Brussels based coldwave outfit’s debut album Mirages which is out now via the Antibody label.

Forever Grey – Broken Home

Goth, darkwave and the dancefloors collide. Broken Home is taken from the Los Angeles based act’s new album Sympathy Garden. You can get it from here.
