Something For The Weekend? Three Preview Tracks

This weeks pack of three focuses on preview tracks for forthcoming releases.

Meyverlin – Archangel

New to me French band Meyverlin release their debut album Daily Events on October 15th 2021. The band feature Thierry Haliniak (My Raining Stars). Archangel is one of two tracks available for previewing and it immediately grabs me with it’s guitars lifted straight from New Order’s back catalogue. The words are about dealing with shame and mistakes and I like the way they are sung in a hazy, sometimes unclear, way.

Daily Events will be released by Too Good To Be True and can be pre-ordered from here.

Rachel Love – The Long Way Round

Rachel Love, ex Dolly Mixture, releases her new album Picture In Mind on October 29th 2021. The Long Way Round is the latest song to be previewed from the album following the recent singles Primrose Hill and Down The Line. It’s the best song so far as Love’s voice floats above the dreamy guitars and bouncy programming with a few “bu bu bas” along the way. Those relaxed beats are just crying out for a remix methinks.

Picture In Mind can be pre-ordered from here.

Softsurf – It’s Ok

It’s OK from Nagoya based SoftSurf is taken from their forthcoming EP Returning Wave that is due for release next week. If it came on the radio or to be more accurate a digital playlist you would swear that this was a Pains Of Being Pure At Heart song circa 2008 that you have never heard before. I mean the voice even sounds like Kip Berman’s. Translate the words on their Bandcamp page and they practically say the same thing! Let’s see/hear if they carve out their own identity when the EP is released.

Returning Wave will be release by

Dreamwaves Records on October 6th 2021 and can be pre-ordered from here.
