Austrian band Molly are now signed to London’s Sonic Cathedral which is the ideal home for their spacious shoegaze sound. They released their debut album All That Ever Could Have Been back in June and one of my favourite tracks from that release (there are a few!) Weep, Gently Weep is now out in a remixed form.
Some people moan about remixes and complain that it means the original is far from perfect. Nah! Whilst some remixes are no more than a cash cow I like a well done remix which emphasises part of a song or alters the original to great effect. Here, James Chapman aka Maps, uses subtle beats to highlight the songs original vocals as well as providing some moody electronica that interprets the structure of the original in a different way. Great stuff.
