The Echo Signal are a post punk band from Minneapolis whose music errs on the dark side of that genre. Think lots of goth bands and a lot of Joy Division. This is a strong EP if that is your sort of thing. It certainly is mine!
Whilst the band are musically and lyrically sound I reckon the droning vocals are a bit like marmite – you will either love or hate them. The singer sounds like a cross between Peter Murphy and Ian Curtis which is no surprise given the bands influences. He especially sounds like the latter on Missing and Comrades in Arms but it’s on the title track where I think listeners may struggle. Persevere and you will get to hear some great music!
