Some Christmas releases to catch the ear. Seafang – Happy When It Snows Actually this, like all of Seafang’s releases to date, is actually pretty good. Seafang – Solid Gold

Seafang follow up last years excellent Motorcycle Song single with two more slices of C86 era fuzzy indie pop. Solid Gold harks back to the likes of The Shop Assistants, The Fizzbombs and a lazy era Primitives. Stardust adds some shoegaze to the layers of fuzziness sounding like a transitional My Bloody Valentine. Excellent!. Seafang – Motorcycle Song

On their Facebook page Florida’s Seafang like C86, The Shangri-Las, The Shop Assistants, My Bloody Valentine, Black Tambourine and many many more of a similar ilk. So no guessing what their music sounds like then. It’s a wonderful infusion of 1980’s indie, girl bands and even a smattering of shoegaze. Standout for me is the closer Be The One which takes me back thirty years and the sounds of The Primitives and The Darling Buds. Wonderful stuff.
