Seablite – Skeleton Couch

Seablite are releasing a new EP next month titled High​-​Rise Mannequins. It’s a joint release on American label Emotional Response and the Spanish label Meritorio Records. Skeleton Couch has been released as a taster and is a fine mix of 1960s girl band and 1980’s c86/fuzzy indie pop. Something For The Weekend? Three Albums

This weeks pack of three consists of three albums on my shopping list. Últim Cavall – Alaska This one has me hooked straight from the off. Literally straight from the opening bars of first track Els llacs which blends seamlessly into Incendi and then into current favourite Tornar A Casa it’s a dreamy journey throughout. It’s a case of not looking back and before you know it you reach the gentle vibes of the closing track Totes Les Flors. Capitol – Blondie

Canadian band Capitol used to be known as UK Cinema who, if you remember, released the excellent English Girls a couple of years ago. I am not sure what has bought on the name change but thankfully musically nothing has changed. Blondie still has that retro feel as misshapen vocals collide with twisted melodic guitars that ring out throughout. The clever lyrics remind me of the writing of Lloyd Cole, Matt Johnson and Edwyn Collins. Stephen’s Shore – The Sun

The Sun is taken from the forthcoming album September Love by Swedish band Stephen’s Shore which is their first release in a couple of years. The Sun just shouts pop at you regardless of whether it’s indie, power or jangle pop. The album will be out in vinyl and digital formats via Spanish label Meritorio Records.
