I love the rawness of this and whilst the novelty may wear off at some point this for the time being is just fun pop rather than Unpop. The Fireworks – I Wish You’d Go

Forget the nonsense that is the 76 track (yes 76 tracks!) reissue of the C86 cassette Cherry Red will be releasing later this year. If you buy one compilation in 2014 make sure it’s Nobody’s Business released by the fledgling Dutch label Candy Twist Records. I have been streaming this album for weeks now since I first mentioned it and now this beauty has been signed, sealed and delivered alongside the latest issue of the fanzine. Fear Of Men – Alta/Waterfall

Brighton based Fear Of Men release their début album Loom on April 21st (a day later in the States) on Kanine Records in a range of formats including a limited edition coloured vinyl set for Record Store Day (19th April). I must admit it took me a while to appreciate the band’s previous output collated on last years Early Fragments but Loom’s opening tracks Alta and Waterfall, both previewed here, are impressive to say the least. Red Sleeping Beauty – Just For Fun

Swedish band Red Sleeping Beauty have acquired a cult status in the seventeen years since we last heard from them. The band, who featured Mikael Matsson (The Shermans/The Charade) and Niklas Angergård (Acid House Kings) amongst their lin eup , released a range of damn fine pop singles between 1992 and 1997. And now they are back. A new single is due in the spring and they have just covered Alpaca Sports Just For Fun track for the bonus CD that comes with pre-orders for Alpaca Sports début due out next month. The Luxury Gap

After posting about the Alpaca Sports album last week I realised that I haven’t explored Swedish label Luxury for some time – witty post title eh? First up is Makthaverskan who released their second album Makthaverskan II early last year. Not sure why I didn’t mention it at the time but it’s a cracker.
