Fallen Star – Coldwave, Darkwave, Post-Punk, Goth-Rock and Minimal Synth Vol 13

Here is a final round up of all thing pots punk related for 2018. I am not sure I will continue with these separate post-punk playlists into 2019 as they barely get any play despite the number of hits the pages receive. Oh well. I guess visitors don’t love post-punk as much as me! Mind you I am old enough to remember it first time around…. Should you care for a listen click the image to start the playlist. More playlists can be found here and the Playmoss page is here. Continue reading Fallen Star – Coldwave, Darkwave, Post-Punk, Goth-Rock and Minimal Synth Vol 13

Now That’s What I Call Compilations…..

Today’s round up features compilations that may, or may not, grab your ears and attention….. Goodbye Idiots II A compilation put together to celebrate Mexican label Stupid Decisions second birthday. It features some excellent indiepop tunes from the likes of Marble Gods, Andrew Younker and Orchid Mantis amongst others. However it’s the new to me Perrogato and their track Fiesta Alienígena which is the pick of the bunch of those currently available for steaming. Pre-order it from here. Facebook Come On Feel The NoiZe, Vol. 2 – Americas´Attack The Blog That Celebrates Itself Records follow up last years Brazilian compilation … Continue reading Now That’s What I Call Compilations…..

Guide His Steps – Coldwave, Darkwave, Post-Punk, Goth-Rock and Minimal Synth Vol 10

It’s been somewhat quiet around here this week as I have started a new job. So what better way to relax than a post-punk playlist mainly of the gloomy and melancholic kind. Compilation Week – Paranoia Musique Vol. 2

Paranoia Musique Vol. 2 is the second volume (guess what the first was called?) wrapping up the darker side of post-punk to be released this year by the label of the same name. The Brazilian Paranoia Musique has scoured the globe for ya and there are contributions from South America, Asia and Europe. There are a couple of dubious entries here (isn’t there always?) but these are levelled out by excellent contributions from Diktatur, Gangue Morcego and the wonderful Makaria whom I would not heard otherwise. And that’s the point of compilations is it not? So if gothic post-punk inspired … Continue reading Compilation Week – Paranoia Musique Vol. 2

Rob Coffinshaker’s Underground Fire – Underground Fire

Rob Coffinshaker has been making goth inspired music since the 1990’s but this is his debut release under the Rob Coffinshaker’s Underground Fire name. Both sides cover the territory he has visited before. Underground Fire is a catchy rockier track whilst flip side Black Hole rides deep into gothic western mode. Ye hah! It’s out now on 7″ from Ultraljud Records. Facebook Continue reading Rob Coffinshaker’s Underground Fire – Underground Fire

Something For The Weekend? Three Influenced By Joy Division……

This week’s pack of three encompasses three artists who have given themselves a tag as Joy Division on Bandcamp. Mementut – Into the shadow of God Very Gothic sounding especially the trademark vocal style and any club that wants to recreate the goth scene of 1980’s northern England could well give it a spin. It gets a bit samey for these ears although on Valyrian and Asylum there are hints at better things to come. Triebgesteuert Antriebslos – Music Is For Losers The post-punk project of a lo-fi hip-hop artist. There are some interesting ideas here and some of the … Continue reading Something For The Weekend? New Today – Cuts & B-Side

Two slabs of contrasting post-punk tracks from New Today who themselves are a collaboration between Casuistry and Two One Six so understandably both bands influences are prevalent on these tracks. Cuts is a goth-tinged synthpop track that would find favour with fans of Alien Sex Fiend and Clan of Xymox whilst Let Me Loose, which is my pick of the two, edges closer to the likes of Joy Division, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and Bauhaus. Available on a pay what you want basis from bandcamp. Continue reading New Today – Cuts & B-Side

Forever Grey – Lost in a Moment

I was preparing to post something dark & gloomy seeing as it’s January and most of us have all returned to work after the festive season. However, the weather is very sunny and glorious in London today and even goth coldwave act Forever Grey have let me down as Lost In A Moment is pretty upbeat – well for them anyway! As ever get it from Bandcamp. Facebook Continue reading Forever Grey – Lost in a Moment
