This weeks pack of three features three shoegazing complications two of which are recently released whilst one came out earlier this year. Dreaming in Sound by Shoegazer Sanctuary Records First up is Dreaming in Sound from Shoegazer Sanctuary Records and label which, unsurprisingly given it’s name, has released a number of shoegazing compilations before. The Morelings debut album Same Century is out this week and We Were is the lead single taken from it. It’s a fine slice of luscious, polished dreampop and is a firm indicator of what the album may bring. Buy Same Century from here. What a tune to come back to after a three week break. The new single from Pinkshinyultrablast could well be the sound of the Cocteau Twins if they were recording now instead of thirty plus years ago. Despite slimming down to a trio the band sound more expansive here. Mixing Shoegaze and dj beats alongside the vocals of singer Lyubov this is fast becoming an instant classic to these ears. Wonderful. It’s out on 1st September via Club AC30. They play both London and Oxford in October on the 20th and 21st respectively. More details here. I am not sure if Playmoss is making me lazy or if it’s given me the chance to post more music that grabs me more than normal. I certainly post tracks which impress me even if the rest of that band’s output doesn’t have much of an impact on my ears. That is something I wouldn’t do previously. Anyway I will let you decide. I have to admit I find Ummagma pretty frustrating to listen to at times. When they get it right they are a joy to listen to but sometimes, as in the case of the title track here, it all goes horribly wrong to these ears. LCD is a strange plodding dream pop track full of noises some of which resemble the bleeps you used to get when listening to audio streams to discourage illegal ripping.
