Battery Point – A Memory For Today

Sarah Records revivalists Battery Point deliver another fine EP that in part pays homage to the aforementioned label. Another Year and Time are on the melodic side of dreampop/shoegaze rather than the harsh version practised by Secret Shine – see they are not paying that much homage! That does come however with their cover of Another Sunny Day’s You Should All Be Murdered which covers this classic track with a layer of jangling guitars but sadly fails to create the beauty of the original. It features three dream-pop tracks complete with the band’s trademark sullen vocals which give a strong atmospheric feel to the songs none more so than on Wasted Youth.
