Three From Indonesia

Getting back into the swing of posting with three new ones from Indonesia.

Monetaries – Away From World

Monetaries (possibly named after a McCarthy song) deliver an EP of twee pop songs that tug on the wrong side of heartbreak – is there a right side? It can be a bit sugary sweet at times, but these are fey, gentle and lovely pop songs. The Cherry Tree and Beauty Manipulator are the standout tracks from me. Purchase from forfun.cookies.

The Caroline’s – Maxi-25

Two very good indiepop songs can be found on this Maxi – if two can be termed maxi of course! Kamu Adalah Sebagian Dari Kota Ini, Segala Musim Yang Pernah Kita Lalui sounds a bit like the Field Mice going up against The Wedding Present whilst Let’s Play Belle and Sebastian’s Song Along the Way draws inspiration from years of indiepop history. Most good.

Blonde House – Aster

Aster pulls together a range of genres (dreampop, indiepop, post-punk) that results in a great sounding single despite the abrupt ending. Aster is out now on Ear To Ear.
