Australian shoegaze act Seven Hour Days’ last single Down And Out was an astonishing track that will surely appear in my, and many others best of 2025 lists when that time comes. Following something that good would always present a problem but Seven Hour Days have managed it with ease on Set Free.
The song showcases the poppier side of shoegaze with a vibrant sequenced beat, fuzzy guitars, hushed vocals and some effective backing vocals with telling words about the subject of surveillance. Whilst the subject may have traits of melancholy, it’s an appealing track that will see a repeat play or five.
