The long (non?) awaited return of the Pack of Three? Here are three post-punk tracks that have caught my ear.
Blind Delon – Étoile Froide
Étoile Froide is a raw sometimes industrial sounding song. It features a clash of synths, electronica and coldwave complete with dark brooding lyrics to match. The track sounds like a malfunctioning cyborg stranded amongst debris in deep space. A new album titled Blast follows next month.
BLDDDLTTR – Let’s Danse (Seb Normal Remix)
Seb Normal has remixed the standout track from the recent DD6 EP and made it a bit dancier than the original. It’s very New Order-ish and I cannot stop humming “Oh, you’ve got green eyes” whilst listening to it. Which means of course it’s absolutely splendid to these ears.
ТЭЦ – Не спеши, невеста
The words to this gloomy post-punk ballad are either by , or inspired by, the Russian war correspondent and poet Aleksandr Tvardovskii (1910-1971). He wrote about those who gave their lives during the Great Patriotic War. He was later ostracised by the Soviet regime for exposing its atrocities. Reminiscent of Laibach’s most haunting works.
