Rocket Rules – Rocket Rules

Another day, another stonking dreampop/shoegaze EP this time in the shape of Melbourne’s Rocket Rules self titled debut EP. It opens with the pop-fuzz rush of Daisy Chain before the vibrant Slip with it’s shimmering sounds and ethereal vocals kick in.

The band go all they way in and show their hands on the exceptional In The Valley which is the stand out track here. It’s the previous track on steroids thanks to vast, spatial feel of the song with the vocals 0f singer Rach standing out.

They then cover The Amps anthem Pacer which is enveloped with the band’s own dreamy spin. Closing track At The Bottom goes like an erm, rocket as the band do not let the pace falter which sums up the whole EP going by in a blur but with plenty of ear-worms too.

Rocket Rules is available from here on a pay what you want basis.
