There are quite a few bands making a post-punk sound which I lazily describe as being influenced by The Fire Engines, The Raincoats, Delta 5, Girls At Our Best as well as decade old revivalists such as Liechtenstein. Whatever happened to them by the way? Think the likes of Dancer, It Thing, Whisper Hiss etc and see (hear?) what I am getting at! I am not complaining by the way as it is a sound I love and Sydney’s G2G are another band at the forefront in 2024.

Pop Song was the first of two singles released this past fortnight (Anthem is the other one) and features jagged edge guitars, thumping percussion and directly sung female vocals that border on the shouty. It’s a great mix as far as I am concerned and one thankfully I will never tire of.

Pop Song and Anthem are both taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album The Gherkin which is out on September 20 2024 via on Lulus Sonic Disc Club.
