Anyone who has been following the recent Two from Clare, South Australia posts rejoice now as there is now a third act to follow. New Labour are Joel (Caleb) Carr and Judith from The Boltons. The pair have released quite a few releases since June, and the latest release is the single The Convicts.
Whereas the pair’s other work draws its influences from the mid 1980s UK indiepop scene, and whilst staying in the same decade, for this project they focus their attention in the synthpop arena. The Convicts is a synth driven (the band use Synclaviers) song that errs onto the darker edge of the dance floor thanks to the vocal style and lyrics. The retro cover style even has a hint of Fatal Charm’s Summer Spies artwork about its “person”. Another fine track from those involved! But stop at three, yeah?
