Despite only having a few releases to its name, the Indonesian label Chaotic Pop Records is fast becoming a favourite of mine thanks to the retro fuzzy and shambling indiepop that it has been releasing.

The label’s second single My Life Is Better With Indiepop by Anselmus got a mention in my first write up of the label. It now gets a CDR release backed with a second track titled Shala la la la la You’re a Complete Rip-Off. It’s a snarling track that vents its spleen on an unnamed record shop that seems to be ripping off local labels.
And as for a two track CDR? The label owner writes that “Anselmus chose to release his first two songs on this CDR single. So, when you consider buying this release, don’t focus on the number of songs on the CD. Having fewer songs doesn’t make it any less valuable – that’s just a misconception!” He also adds, “and a special note to those who hoard copies only to resell them at four times the original price later – well, my middle finger has something to say to you!” DIY to the core.

The labels’ latest single is Wild Grass Picture with My Dear. It has an incredible raw sound, fusing indiepop with a punk attitude. The words are spat out too. “Oh my dear, I love you, like you want me to, rot in hell” Great cover art too.
You can get both releases from the label. I may be tempted to spend money on exorbitant shipping costs just for that t-shirt. And the CDR of course.
