Malmö based Spunsugar have just released their first new single in twenty-odd months. Titled Skin Unwell, it crosses several barriers’ music wise. At times, it sounds like a toned down Silverfish whilst at others you can just imagine if trip-hop was guitar rather than beats, based. That’s the secret to their sound, I guess, and they are not afraid to mix it up, utilising and blending various elements including post-punk and shoegaze. You cannot say it does not have a distinctive edge when compared to a number of their peers.
