Auckland’s The Beths has just released their new single Watching The Credits which was recorded during the sessions for the band’s last album Expert In A Dying Field. The band write that the song “was born out of songwriter Elizabeth Stokes’ habit of learning everything about movies without actually watching them. She now understands this fascination with another creative medium was an escape from music, which had become her job and existential.”
I am not sure why Watching The Credits didn’t make the cut because it’s a sparkling power pop gem and would have made a worthy entry. Maybe on the 10th Anniversary edition, yeah? It’s out now via Carpark Records.
