Something For The Weekend? Three Recent Singles

This week’s pack of three features three recent singles that have been getting time on the stereo, erm PC.

The Vapour Veils – The Night

Stockholm’s The Vapour Veils have not wasted anytime in following up last October’s debut EP. They will be releasing a new EP titled The Dying Dandy on March 17, 2023 and have preceded it with The Night. Like the EP’s other three tracks, the band felt that it did not fit on their forthcoming second album, but an off cut it certainly ain’t. The sound is as epic and Magnus Haderborg’s voice is as distinctive as ever. There are some nice guitar and tambourine sounds completing the mix on this tale of dancing with strangers, in the early morning hours.

Puzzles y Dragones – Rubén y Andrea

Rubén y Andrea is jangling twee influenced indiepop and quite sweet with it too. The track is taken from the forthcoming album Recuerdos de Puzzles y Dragones which can be pre-ordered in physical formats from here. The label, El Genio Equivocado, states it’s for fans of Sarah Records or Cloudberry Records and that’s a fair statement it has to be said erm, played!

English Summer – Untitled

Sadly, English Summer are not back. The track was initially scheduled to appear on an EP titled Saviours & Marauders, which was later scrapped. The band’s Caleb Carr writes that “it’s a very personal song, and I never could give it a title that fit”. I am glad it’s been posted and if the sound of early Creation Records bends your ear, give this one a play. Or five!
