Three fine tracks to get your week off to a good start.
My Raining Stars – What Can We Do
What Can We Do can be found on The Life We Planned EP which features a number of songs that were recorded during the sessions for the band’s recent 89 Memories album. It’s a pulsating track that bridges the gap between mid eighties indiepop and the shoegaze sound that supplanted it whilst everyone else went off to dance. Aside from bustling Mirror 2, which features words from Meyverlin’s Gilles Ramey, the rest of the EP sadly is not as strong to these ears. The EP can be streamed/purchased from here.
Motifs – Valentine
Valentine is the latest track to be taken from the Singaporean shoegazers Motif’s forthcoming album Remember A Stranger. It’s a sparkling and glistening song that highlights the vocals of singer Elspeth Ong. However as often is the case, the upbeat sound betrays the sullen words that deal with a long lost love. Remember A Stranger can be pre-ordered from here.
Flores de Uranio – Por Los Siglos De Los Siglos
Por Los Siglos De Los Siglos is taken from the band’s forthcoming EP Canciones a Tu Yo Del Pasado. Translating as Forever & Ever it packs a powerful punch with the words being responsive to the fuzzy and noisy guitars. The more I hear this band, the more I like!
