I am still catching up on my post holiday tuneage. Here are three that caught my ear!
Tip Top Nap – 街の灯り
Kyoto’s Tip Top Nap are back with their first newly recorded song for over two years. 街の灯り (City Lights) is a vibrant indiepop song with bits of rock and roll thrown in for good measure. I like the way Natsumi Yamamoto’s voice soars over the music becoming engrained in your consciousness. A foot tapper for sure!
Infinite Siennas – Petrichor
Infinite Siennas are from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Petrichor is a blend of heavy shoegaze and post-rock whilst the vocals sound like a bit like Ride’s Mark Gardener. More than a bit actually.
Hero No Hero – Missing Tooth
Hero No Hero is Ken Aki (Starry Eyed Cadet). The new single Missing Tooth is a catchy piece of twee infused indiepop. However there is a catch as the lyrics tell a suffering tale of a protagonist and their partner who hits the sauce somewhat resulting in conflict.
