Welcome Strawberry is a new band hailing from Oakland, California. The band seems the be he project of Cyrus Vandenburgh who, on the recently announced forthcoming self titled debut album, is joined by an array of friends. No One Online is the first single to be taken from the album and is a fuzzy and vibrant shoegazing track, being quite poppy with it too.
The joint vocals between Vandenburgh and guest vocalist Alexandra Morte (Night School) works really well whilst the song also has an indie dance vibe thanks to the driving “ethnic” inspired percussion provided by Daniel Baylis. Reminds me of when My Bloody Valentine and The Primitives used something similar.
Welcome Strawberry is a joint release between Too Good To be True (Fra) and Cherub Dream Records. It should surface early September. No One Online can be purchased from here.
