Sendai’s Red Go-Cart really manage to capture that retro indie/twee pop sound of the late 1980s/early 1990s on their new single Jellyfish which will be released on flexi-disc (see what I mean!) on June 25th 2021. My first impression is that it manages to sound like a speeded-up version of Strawberry Story’s Ashlands Road whilst the vocals do have a passing resemblance to Harriet Wheeler of The Sundays. Twee as fuck? You bet.
Jellyfish is the first I have heard from this Japanese indiepop band who have been going since 1999 with Jellyfish being their first release in three years. It’s not available to pre-order given the Galaxy Train Bandcamp page as it stands but the label’s Facebook page does have a mention. However, it’s available digitally from the band on a pay what you want basis.
