Sonic Dhoom is the first new material we have heard from Melbourne’s The Black Heart Death Cult since their debut album early last year. It’s fine piece of Asian inspired psychedelic done featuring some wonderful sitar work. I am pretty sure it’s a nod to Pete Kember. Flip side It’s Getting Heavy flirts with religion, just as Mr Kember’s band once did, as the Neo-psychedelia inspired guitars and vocals inspire visions of choirs and celestial bodies.
Sonic Dhoom is available digitally from the band. There will be a 7″ single appearing on Salty Dog Records soon.
