Something For The Weekend? Three from Matinee Recordings

Just as it says on the front of the tin this weeks pack of three features three releases from Matinee Recordings.

My darling YOU! – Thanks For Letting Me Stay

Thanks For Letting Me Stay is a track that appeared on the Sorry EP originally released on Luxury Records back in 2011. It’s also now the lead single for a new compilation of this Swedish band’s recordings entitled A Dream Come True which collates tracks from the band’s long sold out EP’s.

New material has been mentioned but no word as yet if it will be released on Matinee. As for the band they produced (or should that be produce?) shouty pop that was all the rage in their homeland a decade ago and which is due for a comeback! Who better than My darling YOU!to get the ball rolling?

The single is available digitally from the label.

Bubblegum Lemonade – She’s A Legal High

I have to be honest and confess that despite my fondness for the band I just simply cannot get into their latest album Desperately Seeking Sunshine.

That album has now been followed by a new EP entitled Heaven With You which features two tracks recorded as part of the aforementioned album’s sessions but were not on the original album. The title track leaves me nonplussed but it’s one of the session tracks She’s A Legal High that grabs my attention and I think it’s one of the band’s best tracks for a considerable time. Indiepop meets 1960s pop with aplomb. It’s certainly worth listening to!

The EP can be ordered from here.

Azure Blue – Event Horizon

Event Horizon is the latest single to be lifted from the forthcoming Images Of You album. I bet given its soaring melodies it will be one of the album highlights – if not the highlight of course! Vibrant yet dark. Images of You can be pre-ordered from here.

BONUS!

Matinee indiepop/synthpop band Red Sleeping Beauty have released a version of the track Tonight entitled Ikväll alongside a remixed version both of which are sung in their native Swedish. Tonight appears on the recent album Stockholm and will also be the lead/title track on an EP due for release next month. I am not sure if Matinee are releasing Ikväll but for now you can get it from bandcamp.
