In the 1970s there was a short-lived punk band called Warsaw Pakt who were around at the same time as another band called Warsaw. The latter, because they did not want to be confused with the former, changed their name to Joy Division and the rest they say is history.
Why do I mention this? Well aside from being a bore it’s because Warsaw Pact, like Interpol et al. before them, obviously take their cues from band formerly known as Warsaw supplying a modern take on the sound.
Whilst there is no Martin Hannett on the mixing desk I always prefer the bands alternate mixes because they sound rougher than the originals, fitting in the retro setting of the post-punk sound and this mix is no exception. Top notch.
