The Crystal Furs – The Crystal Furs

Texan alt. rock/indie-pop band The Crystal Furs have just released their debut self-titled album which includes the recent Tunnel Vision single and it’s fantastic flip side Miss Hughes. The album is fast out of the blocks with frantic guitars driving Quit You and Weightless coupled with with Amanda Camille’s lovely vocals. The band are best when they maintain that level of pace (Summer’s Over) with the only exception being the aforementioned flip side as the Camille’s distinctive vocals dominate the slowed down guitars. Something for the Weekend….

Another three pack for your discovery/enjoyment etc. The first two featured in the recent podcast and it’s only fair to give them more of a mention. The Lads Mags – The Future’s Done Excellent 1960’s girl band influenced garage from Canadian’s The Lad Mags. Of the two tracks available it’s opener Bed of Bones that does it for me and I stupidly gave it the wrong title in the aforementioned podcast – now corrected.
